The Restitution Art Lab project was a hybrid mix of theatre, performance, film documentation and symposium with the goal of promoting the discussion on the restitution of African cultural heritage in Germany and make it accessible to a wider audience. Directed by Jens Vilela Neumann (Paradise Garden Productions), it premiered on June 17, 2022 at the Volksbuhne Theater, in Berlin.
As a result queen-mother Ngonnso, who had been stolen from the Royal Palace in Cameroon's Nso land and which for more than 100 years had been at the Ethnological Museum (Humboldt Forum), in Berlin, is to be returned to Cameroon.
